If you say it loud enough you’ll always sound precocious.
Normally, I use Wikipedia for anything and everything. It’s not gospel to me, but I get really interesting tidbits of information about movies from there. But for some reason, I never looked up Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Turns out, it has a meaning!
Here are the word roots:
super- “above”, cali- “beauty”, fragilistic- “delicate”, expiali- “to atone”, and docious- “educable”.
So, the word actually means, “Atoning for educability through delicate beauty,” even though Mary Poppins says that it’s “something to say when you have nothing to say”.
That’s mostly nonsense, but I found it so fascinating, I thought it deserved a blog post of its own.
